For those of you related to the younger Josiah James (who married Olivia James), I just found this website: vincewelch.com/burg.htmlAmos Burg, Jr. is the son of Anna James. And Anna James is the daughter of Josiah and Olivia. It seems he was a pretty famous National Geographic explorer, lecturer, and movie maker. Extremely interesting slide show. I'm so excited about this find!

If you go to the National Geographic website, and type "Amos Burg" in the search field on the top right of the screen, you'll see a list of all of his articles and photos. I created a free username and password and got access to reading his work. So cool!

My reading is pretty slow going on Amos. But I do have some snippets about his family life from the book that I will post soon.

I read last night that Amos Burg Jr. was the youngest (at the time) lecturer in the National Geographic Circuit. He was also the youngest (at the time) inductee to the Explorers Club: www.explorers.org/index.php/about/about_the_club. The Club included Roald Amundsen - Antarctic Explorer, Peary and Henson - Arctic Explorers, Charles Lindburgh, Sir Edmund Hillary,Teddy Roosevelt. Very impressive stuff!

And this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCETheZgS2k) has interviews of Amos, and his sister Vera Yunker. You can hear their voices! It gave me chills!

Instead of posting every little thing I found out about Amos, I wrote a blog post about him. I'm sure I'll write much more; I already plan on posting the obit I found of him that summarizes his admirable life rather well. You can read my article here: innatejames.wordpress.com/2014/06/04/dreams-as-big-as-canada/It even won an award.
